The Sleeper

Finally finished this one after three months of work I've been so looking forward to the weekends to be able to work on this in daylight!  I'm really proud of how it's come out, it's better than I could have hoped (even if I do say so myself )

My mum had taken a photo of her cat Taffy sleeping on his favourite perch - the back of the sofa - and I thought the lighting was lovely and that it was just yelling to be painted   I've tried to preserve that silvery, light-and-breezy feeling which I liked so much in the photo.  I also pushed myself in terms of colour and put a lot of thought into the colours I was using for his fur rather than just copying the original photo  It felt a lot more natural painting in this way, more true to life - I will be continuing this approach into my future paintings
