I thought I'd write up some things I plan to do*, art-wise. If you have any thoughts/suggestions then feel free to share. :)
*(This is by no means a concrete list. It's just some things I've thought of to try and motivate myself)

:bulletred: A realistic drawing of an animal
:bulletblue: A coloured pencil realism portrait
:bulletgreen: Celebrity portraits: Hayden Panettiere, Keanu Reeves, Christian Bale
:bulletpurple: A digital painting

They sound pretty simple, but it's things I've never really tried or succeeded at before. And I know those portraits have been done before, but that's no reason to try it myself, is it ;) Also, if I do draw Keanu, maybe he won't look like a hamster this time :giggle:

I started an oil painting today. My first time using oil paints, because my sister's boyfriend gave me a little starters set that he had (he's not a painter though...don't ask me why he was given them :XD:). Turpentine stinks. It's vile stuff. And now my bedroom stinks and I have a headache T_T
I'm going to finish the painting and see what I think of oils then. I can't think of anywhere else I can use as a 'studio' area and I can't sleep in a room that smells like turpentine >.<

In other news, my job is going well, but it leaves me with no time or motivation to do much art-wise. I'm drawing something at the moment, but my heart's not in it and I know it kinda sucks. Hopefully it'll improve :fingerscrossed:

I'm enjoying watching the Olympics. Even if we do suck a bit. But we've won medals! Horay!

....and I can't do any of the side missions at the end of FFXII:RW. It's so annoying! How long can you power level for before just getting sick of this game?!! (Answer: Not long apparantly) I'm sure even FF3 wasn't this annoying. ¬_¬

So, how are you? :3

I finally got a full time job - I have been transferred from the store restaurant to the store office. Not much of a move but it's a job with training and experience that means something!
I had my first day today, and it was pretty fun overall. It's going to take ages before I actually know what I'm doing properly, but it's nice to be somewhere with air conditioning, at least. :giggle:
So now I am no longer a 19 year old working in a dead-end store restaurant (although I did like that job T_T I miss all of my workmates! Even if I am in the same building as them ;)).
Horay!

I'm thinking of redoing one of my older pieces. I've got plans to redraw one, just to see how I've improved - if there's a particular one that you would like to see redone, then I'd like to hear. Might give me something to draw, at least ;)

I have a canvas in my room that's waiting to be painted...but nothing to paint! Or the time to paint it...

Oh yeah.....
Happy Birthday dA.

V6 + tag

Journal Entry: Fri Jul 18, 2008, 9:46 AM
I expect everyone has an opinion on dAV6, so...
:twocents:

I quite like it. At first I was a little confused, because the site seemed normal when I logged in, but changed after I clicked on the Daily Deviations. Also, I keep trying to scroll up when I'm already at the top (in other words I keep loosing the toolbar at the top :XD:).

I quite like that Deviations and comments and such are viewable in the message centre, although I'm wondering what the point is in subscribing anymore...(luckily I'm not anyway)...and the order of the messages has got me. I prefer the comments and watch messages to be at the top. That's just a minor annoyance though, I guess.
Pleased to see the submission process hasn't changed. It's confusing enough as it is to find the categories!

So, overall, I quite like V6.

Apart from that, I've been meaning to organise my gallery, but haven't got around to doing it yet. My frontpage is filling up with WIPs at the moment, so I'm going to try and find something else to upload before the next WIP. I finished a painting weeks ago, but I want to give it to my nephew before uploading it.
I made welsh cakes earlier. They're tasty, but take FOREVER to cook!

**Tagged**
Tagged by :iconweb-head-uk:
Game rules explained:
* 1. Post these rules.
* 2. Each tagged person must post 8 things about themselves on their journal.
* 3. At the end, you have to choose and tag 8 people.
* 4. Go to their pages and send a message saying you tagged them.
* 5. No tag-backs.

1. I'm allergic to orange food colouring. Well...I used to be, but I'm not risking a migrane to find out. ;)
2. I work in a Department Store Restaurant. I have done for nearly three years, since I started college. I've been working somewhere between part and full time hours for a year, yet they still won't give me a proper contract. 9_9
3. I've never dyed my hair. I have no tattoos, and I only have three piercings - two on one ear, one on the other.
4. I'm pretty good with computers, and I love design, but I suck when it comes to drawing or colouring. I own a tablet, but that doesn't seem to make it any easier. Especially since I lost the CD and the pressure thing doesn't work.
5. I've never been abroad. I've been to the Isle of Wight though...if that counts. How about Wales? :XD:
6. I would love to travel. I want to go to Japan one day, and there's some other countries I'd love to visit.
7. I'm quite shy. Unless I'm with my friends or at work, I sometimes struggle with what to say. I'm friendly though, which I hope makes up for it. ;D
8. I find these things really hard to fill out. Maybe I suffer from low esteem? I dunno, I just feel boring. I want to learn to juggle...
:juggle:

Ok.....tagging....I tag anyone who is reading this. Yes, you! And you're too late, because you've already read it. :evillaugh:
Why yes, I can't think of eight people to tag.

Tutorial Suggestions Please!

Journal Entry: Fri Jun 20, 2008, 1:12 PM
Recently I've been looking around dA for traditional pencil drawing tutorials, mostly based around portraits. If anyone knows of any good ones (both tutorials or galleries), I'd appreciate any deviants you can recommend. :) Thanks.

I've already looked at =Cataclysm-X's tutorials (which are very useful - there's a good one on scanning pencil drawings if it's something you have trouble with!), and I've been looking around at galleries with good traditional pencil portraits in for general ideas on different techniques. It makes for inspiring viewing

In other (?) news, I've finished 'step one' of my next drawing. One more step and I can actually put pencil to paper! I'm really excited about starting this because it's going to be bigger than anything I've drawn for ages, if ever, plus it's a long overdue piece that's been in the pipeline for a while. Or should that read 'because I'm a bit sad and have no social life to get excited about'? ;)

Also, the WIP question from the last journal is still open, although the balance is leaning towards uploading it step by step.

In other news, I cut a small chunk out of my finger at work today. Although it didn't bleed at all, it blimmen' hurts when I type. So I'm going to stop.
Ouchie.

Back From Wales + QUESTION!

Journal Entry: Wed Jun 11, 2008, 12:57 PM
As the title implies, I am back from Wales! I went on a weeks holiday (saturday to saturday) with my family to the South of Wales. :)

It was fun, and felt like longer than a week. The weather was nice, too, so we didn't get rained on while wandering round all the castles and beaches and stuff.
I might put a couple of photos up on here, but it depends.
I love Wales ^^

I came home yesterday to find that FFXII: Revenant Wings had arrived two days earlier than they said they'd dispatch it! Whoo! (I ordered it with a pre-order and thought I wouldn't get it until late next week). It's such a great little game. A lot like FFTA, but better. :)

We're having a barbeque later. Yay! Hot dogs

That is all :giggle:

11/06/08: Actually, that's not all.
First off, the hot dogs were very tasty ;)
Secondly, I've got plans for a big drawing (big as in A3 and challenging), and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in seeing seperate WIP uploads? So instead of uploading all of the progress shots in one image after I upload the final, I'd upload the picture at different stages in the drawing process.
Of course, I might do this anyway if no-one says one way or the other, but if everyone just doesn't give a damn about how I draw my pictures, then I won't worry about it. :)
